The things we don't talk about...
Why don't we talk about Alzheimer's? It affects an enormous number of people: 1 of every 2 persons over 85 and 1 of every ~13 people over 65 have Alzheimer's -- and this effects not only these people but all of their relatives as well. Yet a year ago I didn't know a single person with a relative with Alzheimer's, not to mention anyone with Alzheimer's...seems kind of odd, huh?.
But that was BEFORE I started researching this disease and TALKING about it. Suddenly, the floodgates opened. It turns out the practically EVERYONE I knew had a relative with Alzheimer's, they just never mentioned it before. It's such a silent epidemic that many of us how no idea how prevalent it is and what a big problem it is. So Why don't we talk about it???
